AS Brooklyn Beckham lay draped across his wife Nicola Peltz in his most damning interview yet – his younger brother was going through a break up.
After months of escalating tension amongst the once tight-knight Beckham family – Romeo and Kim Turnbull decided to call it quits.
But model Romeo, 22, didn't take the decision lightly and is said to be furious about how Kim, 26, was made the scapegoat for the family fallout.
Insiders say he is not yet ready to forgive Brooklyn, 26, – after he is said to have refused to attend any family events if Kim was in attendance.
The pair were thought to have dated briefly when they were teenagers – years before she met Romeo.
The legacy has been an awkward issue between the two brothers which has been allowed to simmer again as Brooklyn distanced himself from his family.
Mum Victoria and Dad David are said to be desperate to sort the situation with insiders revealing they are continuing to include Brooklyn where they can.
A source close to the family told The Sun: "Romeo is still very unhappy about how everything played out and that no one stepped in to support Kim.
"He doesn't understand why people can't see it's clearly not Kim who is the issue and has pointed out that Nicola had fallen out with the family before."
Romeo's break up with Kim is said not to be about the feud but friends can't help but wonder if the stress played a part in it.
The insider continued: "Romeo hates that Brooklyn will be smug about this because he's got his way and they all feel he can't just waltz back in after everything that has happened.
"Romeo is upset about how Kim has been treated and still really cares for her."
The situation has left their parents with a new family challenge, with insiders telling us: "David and Victoria are torn – they hate not speaking to Brooklyn but they are hurt by all the upset he has caused with his actions and there needs to be talks with them all."
The next public family event will be the premiere of Victoria's new show later this year and they have already started laying the groundwork to make sure Brooklyn is there.
"They have never stopped inviting Brooklyn and Nicola to events and trying to include them – it's very much in their court now."

Those close to the family have said they are concerned Nicola has become a controlling presence in Brooklyn's life — with him no longer speaking to his parents or his siblings.
Contact with his grandparents is also said to have been cut, with the family fearing he was being "held hostage" by Nicola, who is accused of being hell bent on driving a wedge between them.
But sources close to Nicola have been firing back, claiming she is being painted as the Gen Z version of Meghan Markle.
They say she has done nothing but be a loving and devoted wife.
Just last week the family were blindsided when the couple took a series of targeted swipes at them in a new interview.
And fans were horrified to spot that Brooklyn has started to cover up his beloved Mama's boy tattoo – replacing it with a large floral design instead.
Brooklyn has more than 100 tattoos and, in his latest Glamour interview, he was asked about which are "particularly important" to him.
Tellingly – his other tribute to his mum – a massive heart on his left shoulder with "mum" written inside it, which he got in 2018, doesn't get a mention.
Nor does the one dedicated to his dad, which saw him ink David's middle name Joseph — the same moniker handed down to Brooklyn — on his lower left arm three years ago.
But while Victoria and David are willing to look past the slight, his fiercely loyal brothers could take more work – particularly newly single Romeo.
Both brothers often speak about the importance of family – but it's time they start practising what they preach.
