The Mr Blue Sky rockers were due to take to the stage at Manchester's Co-Op Arena.

However, thousands of fans waited for the group to take to the stage before an announcement was made.

Concert goers were told that the group cancelled their show at the last minute and would not take to the stage.

The band also released a statement on their social media which confirmed that Jeff was struck with a mystery illness.

The statement read: "Unfortunately due to illness, tonight's (Thursday 10th July 2025) scheduled performance of Jess Lynne's ELO at the Co-Op Live will not be going ahead.

"Jess is devastated he cannot perform this evening."

The group added: "More information will become available as soon as possible.

"For refunds please go to your point of purchase."

The star had previously battled with a broken hand whilst performing with the group on his farewell concerts.

Following his first show in Manchester on Wednesday, fans couldn't help but share their concern for the singer.

They shared snaps of written notes they received when attending the new arena on social media.

It read: "We regret to inform you that due to unforeseen circumstances, today's event cannot continue.

"Please check our social channels over the next few days for further information, including on any rescheduled dates and refunds."

On X – formerly known as Twitter – many fans claimed the concert was called off with just 15 minutes notice.

Raising fears for the singer, one fan wrote: "Sorry that ELO's concert was cancelled this evening, is The Hyde Park going ahead on Sunday? Hope Jeff Lynne makes a speedy recovery…"

A second fan noted: "Hoping people get compensated for Jeff Lynne ELO tonight. There's being unwell and then there's cancelling 15 minutes due before coming on. People will have hotels booked, transport. Drinks, merchandise."

"At Jeff Lynne concert cancelled after 15 mins @TheCoopLive," claimed someone else.

While an additional rock fan posted: "Went to see Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra at @TheCoopLive.

"But dear old Jeff was poorly and the show was cancelled. Get well soon."

Others claimed the concert was cancelled within an hour of the start time.

Writing on the platform, a fifth stated: "The concert that never was. Cancelled with 45mins to go. Get well soon Jeff Lynne."

As another added: "Jeff Lynne's ELO – Cancelled due to illness! Less than an hour before the show was due to start. Gutted. Hope Jeff is OK!"
