CELEBRITY Gogglebox star Shaun Ryder has pulled the plug on his entertainment business after racking up nearly £170,000 in debt.

The Happy Mondays legend's performing arts company went into liquidation on August 19, documents filed to Companies House reveal.

William George Entertainment, which Shaun co-owns and directs with wife Joanne, owes £169,127.

A statement of affairs reports £129,367 is owed in corporation tax to HMRC, while £23,919 is owed to Royal Bank of Scotland, £14,759 is owed in VAT and £981 is owed in PAYE employee tax.

I'm A Celebrity runner-up Shaun set the business up in 2011, reporting its nature of business as 'support activities to performing arts'.

It's one of three businesses listed for him on Companies House. The others are Black Grape 2015, which held £5,388 as of March 31, 2024, and SWRX, which he set up in May.

The Sun has contacted a representative for Shaun for comment.

Back in 2023, Shaun said he was still having to work hard to fund therapy for his kids' ADHD.

He explained: "So I have six kids and five of them have it. That's why I'm always working, because I've got to pay for their f***ing therapy.

"One of my girls is a maths genius – there's traces of autism in ADHD.  Not everyone's got traces of autism in the ADHD, not everyone has a bad memory.

"No ADHD is the same. It's always affecting my memory.

"Even though I wasn't diagnosed until 50 odd years old, when I was at school while I was in the class I would take things and understand it, by the time the lesson had ended and I walked out that door I couldn't remember anything. I just didn't retain the information.

"And also the ADHD, with me, led to promiscuous behaviour, drugs, trouble."

Earlier this year we revealed Shaun and Bez had got their band back together to record the Mondays' first new album in 18 years.

It follows the tragic death of Shaun's brother Paul in July 2022, who played bass for the group.

Bez said the group were persuaded to get back in the studio by their manager, Oasis supremo Alan McGee.

"There's talk of a new album to come, which I'm really f***ing looking forward to," said Bez.

"It's going to be visionary.

"It's going to be massive.

"It's an idea and Alan normally gets what he wants.

"With all my heart and soul, I want it more than anyone.

"I want to hear the most magic st you've ever heard.

"And I'm sure we can deliver it."

The group, who had Top Ten hits with Step On and Kinky Afro, have five studio albums in all, but haven't put out an original body of work since 2007.

Alongside the Happy Mondays, Shaun has been hard at work on the debut record for super group Mantra Of The Cosmos, which features Bez, Andy Bell and Zak Starkey.
