SHAWN Mendes is the latest star to secretly set up camp in the Cotswolds.

I can reveal the Canadian singer has fallen in love with the tiny village of Great Tew, with loads of celebrities already living nearby, including Posh and Becks and Simon Cowell.

Shawn has, locals tell me, started sticking out like a sore thumb as the tiny village only has about 200 residents — with many spotting the Stitches singer out and about.

My village mole said: "We're awash with stars and now Shawn has started hanging out in Great Tew all the time.

"The word on the street is that he's rented a little place here for some peace and quiet before he goes off on his tour.

"No one ever asks him for a selfie so he must be loving the fact he's left alone.

"But when he walks into cafes and pubs in the area, heads do turn.

"Shawn is treated like a normal person too, he doesn't get any special treatment because he's famous.

"The last time he was in the cafe, he got a telling-off because he was ordering his food right before the kitchen closed. They told him to hurry up and order.

"The poor lad. He's the talk of the village."

Luckily for Shawn, his ears must have stopped burning by last night, when he flew to Budapest for the first show of his tour.

He will play three more dates in Denmark, Austria and Germany before performing at London's O2 Arena on August 16.

Once the tour's European leg is over, Shawn heads to the United States, with the run of shows finishing at the Hollywood Bowl on October 17.

His last album, Shawn, came out in November last year, when he admitted he had worked through some tough times while writing it.

Shawn said: "This album feels like medicine to me.

"It helped me reconnect with myself, allowing me to work through emotions, find clarity and feel stronger."

Well, the next time he needs a break from the world, we know where he'll be heading.
