CHRIS Martin was reportedly paid millions to perform at a private party in Hampshire just days after Coldplay completed their record-breaking Music of the Spheres world tour.

The band finished a 10-night run at Wembley Stadium, which formed part of the tour that has sold more than 13 million tickets worldwide and is on course to gross over £1billion.

It is the eighth world tour of Coldplay's career and their biggest to date – having kicked off in 2022.

At the private "Indian summer" party, hosted by Swiss singer-songwriter Miel de Botton, Chris, 48, performed for about 70 guests.

According to The Mirror his fee was in the millions, though reports suggest he plans to donate the money to charity.

Chris drew attention to the contrast with his stadium shows, telling the small crowd: "There were more people in the toilets at Wembley than there are here."

He later joked about the end of the tour, saying: "I'm now unemployed."

The Hampshire performance lasted around 90 minutes.

Instead of his Coldplay bandmates, Chris was joined by a bass guitarist he has played with since he was 12 years old and female backing singers.

The Sun has contacted a rep for Chris for comment.

The Music of the Spheres tour began in March 2022 and ran for more than two years, covering 43 countries and over 220 shows.

Final figures are still being counted, but the band is expected to surpass £1 billion in revenue, making them the highest-earning live act in UK history.

That would put them ahead of Sir Elton John, whose farewell tour grossed £718 million.

The tour was not without controversy. Earlier this month, Chris faced criticism after Israeli fans were booed at a London concert.

In July, a show in Massachusetts made headlines when the stadium's "kiss cam" exposed an affair between a US technology boss and his head of human resources, who were later identified and resigned from their roles.

Kristin Cabot, a high level executive at Astronomer, was filmed snuggling with her company's CEO Andy Byron in front of thousands of people at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts.

The red-faced couple turned pale when the cameras caught them as Chris said, "All right, come on, you're OK. Uh oh. What?!

"Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy."

He added, "Hope we didn't do something bad."
