CUSTOMERS at an East London nail salon were stunned to discover they were sitting alongside one of the biggest pop stars of the early 2000s.

One lad said he didn't recognise the superstar – so she broke into song and he immediately realised who she was.

The 57-year-old powerhouse – who has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide – was only found out after the curious Londoner asked where she was from.

James Robertson told The Sun the chance encounter began as a completely ordinary day.

He said: "I am originally from East London, a born Londoner, it was a normal day for me until this happened.

"My friend wanted to get her nails done, she only goes to one shop, and that being in Bethnal Green.

"I was just casually sitting there minding my own business when a lady sat next to me spoke in an American accent so I asked where they were from.

"She replied 'Chicago' to which I replied 'oh wow, I've always wanted to go there'."

At that point, another customer hinted the woman in the salon was actually someone VERY famous.

He continued: "The lady sat next to me then made the comment 'that lady over there is actually somebody famous', I instantly started thinking of who she could be."

The mystery was soon solved when Anastacia herself began listing some of her songs.

The fan recalled: "I couldn't guess, so the lady sat next to me then asked Anastacia, who I didn't know it was at the time, to name some of her songs which she started doing.

"The first song she said was 'I'm Outta Love' which, come on, who doesn't know this absolute banger?

"I was instantly gobsmacked!

"It was like going to a nail salon to a lockdown party! She was fab!

"The whole experience was amazing. Who would have thought going with your friend to get her nails done would turn into a magical moment that I will never forget."

Anastacia rose to fame at the turn of the millennium, becoming one of the most recognisable female voices in pop.

Her debut single I'm Outta Love topped charts across Europe and remains a staple of early-2000s pop playlists.

She played an incredible 64 shows across the UK and Europe earlier this year as part of her sold-out, Not That Kind tour.

The tour comes as Anastacia celebrates 25 years since the release of her chart-topping debut album of the same name.

Speaking last month about it on ITV's This Morning, she said: "Three weeks from now I will have done 70 shows this tour this year.

"I'm super grateful for it because it's the 25th anniversary and you know it just seemed like people were really up for celebration and every crowd, every country was super excited about being there.

"When I got to the number 25, I actually was like, wow, yeah, that's kind of cool. I do feel there is a place, they're still playing my music, they actually like my music still. I feel good about it."

After releasing her first album in 2000, the icon went on to release seven further albums, with seven worldwide tours.
