The special occasion? They gathered together to celebrate the opening night of theatre show Hades Town UK in London's Lyric Theatre – where Nicola is one of the stars.

Taking to Instagram, Cheryl shared one simple mirror selfie of them all absolutely glowing with pride.

They appear to be backstage at the show in Nicola's dressing room, surrounded by essentials such as makeup and bottles of water.

Multiple bouquets of flowers can also be seen behind them all, as well as on the table in front of them.

They likely belong to Nicola.

Kimberley's smile beamed in the middle as she wore a chocolate brown top and gold hoops.

Cheryl is smiling to her right in the photo, wearing an autumnal brown blazer and natural flowing hair.

And West End star, Nicola, is pouting in a perfect ballet bun to the left, as she holds her bright yellow phone to take the pic.

She appears to still be in costume, sporting a gold halterneck dress with showgirl-style fringe at the bottom.

Cheryl didn't hold back in her caption, absolutely gushing to her 3.8 million Instagram followers about how proud she is of her friend.

"Congratulations Hades Town UK on a brilliant opening night" she began.

"Nicola, I am so very proud of you…

"Watching you step so far out of your comfort zone and still delivering at that level was overwhelming for me.

"The entire cast and score are incredible…"

Cheryl peppered many emojis throughout her heartfelt message including stars, hands in the air, and one of a face tearing up.

Fans of both Cheryl and Nicola's flooded the comments with heart emojis, as well as glowing messages of praise.

"I was at Nicolas first show and she is beyond amazing! I am hoping to be back soon," said one user.

"She is just the best" and "Good to see you all," added others.

Fans were also happy to see Cheryl posting again, as she's stepped out of the spotlight notably since the passing of her son's father, Liam Payne.

Cheryl going out with Kimberley to see Nicola star in the West End was her first red carpet appearance since Liam's death.

She's been gradually getting back to work alongside navigating her grief, becoming the face of skincare brand Nivea UK back in August of this year.

She's also set to star on the 14th series of The Voice, reuniting with long-time mentor and friend Will.i.am.

The pair were spotted together on holiday in Italy last month ahead of Cheryl's TV comeback.
