Netflix has ordered mini TV series
WEATHER GIRL based on a play by
Brian McDermott with
Julia McDermott reprising the role from the theatre. Set in a wildfire ravaged California, the show will follow career driven television weather girl Stacey, whose polished on-air persona masks her deep anguish over the destruction consuming her hometown. After reporting from a burning home with a family of five inside, she begins to spiral. The plot intertwines fears of the climate crisis and a strange reunion with her mother, who abandoned her long ago.
Brian Watkins will be the show runner, executive producer and will also direct the first episode.
