GLASTONBURY'S line-up has faced a major last minute shake-up after a rock group was forced to pull out of their secret set.

Metal group Deftones were meant to take to the Other Stage tonight at 8.30pm, but due to illness have been forced to cancel.

Glastonbury confirmed the news on their Instagram

The band confirmed the news on their Instagram Stories, writing: "In an unfortunate development, an illness in the band is going to prevent us from playing Glastonbury tonight.

"We're devastated to be missing out on something we've been looking forward to for months, but sometimes circumstances out of our control interfere with things we want to do the most.

"We really hope to return to Glastonbury soon, and as it stands, we plan on seeing you tomorrow at Crystal Palace."

With the schedule temporarily thrown into chaos, Glastonbury were able to secure British grime star Skepta at the eleventh hour to take their place.

An official statement from Glastonbury said: "Deftones have been forced to cancel tonight's 8.30pm Other Stage performance due to illness in the band.

"Skepta will kindly step-in, taking the stage at 9pm."

Adding to the statement, Skepta said: 'Let's go!!! No crew, no production but am ready to shut Glastonbury down. Victory lap time. Pre-Big Smoke 2025!'"

Mercury Prize-winning jazz quintet Ezra Collective, who were due for a 6.45pm performance on the same stage will now play from 7pm to 8.15pm.

The switch-up has come with the festival scrambling behind-the-scenes with a number of issues to make sure it goes off without a hitch.

Neil Young, who is headlining the Pyramid Stage tonight, initially refused to have his set broadcast, with Charli XCX – who's performing on the Other Stage – instead taking a prime slot on the BBC's coverage.

However, today it was announced that he had changed his mind – in a throwback to him initially cancelling his performance last year before making a U-turn.

His set will now appear on BBC's livestream of the Pyramid Stage.

Over the two days of the festival so far, a stream of surprise sets and appearances have already been made – with more coming in the upcoming hours, including the mystical band 'Patchwork', which at the time of writing is heavily believed to be Pulp.

Lewis Capaldi also made his return after two years for a secret set on Friday, and Lorde surprised fans by opening the Woodsies stage, playing her new album Virgin front-to-back just hours after it was released.
