ZOE Ball has confessed she quit her £950k a year Radio 2 job to spend time with daughter Nelly – but her daughter is 'never home'.

The 54-year-old hosted her final BBC Radio 2 breakfast show in December when she stepped down after six years.

But now Zoe has admitted that she's not been able to make the most of her new free time.

She said: "I gave up work because she's going to do her GCSEs but she's never there. She's out with her mates. I'm like, 'I've given up work for you'."

Zoe, who shares Nelly, 15, and son Woody, 24, with ex-husband Norman Cook, made the confession when she appeared on the Parenting Hell with Rob Beckett and Josh Widdecombe podcast.

She continued: 'I am like 'What did I give up for?'

"Yeah, I have thought about it because I've been through this a bit with Woody, but I had the joy of having Nell still around. I don't know.

"For girls, 15 is booze and boys. It's a nightmare. It's an absolute mind-fielder."

Speaking previously ahead of her exit, Zoe said: "After six incredible years on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show, it's time for me to step away from the very early mornings and focus on family.

"I've decided it's time to step away from the early alarm call and start a new chapter.

"We've shared a hell of a lot, the good times, the tough times, there's been a lot of laughter. And I am going to miss you cats."

She has since returned to the BBC Radio 2 fold with The Zoe Ball Show, which airs every Saturday.

Yet between April and June 2025 the station has lost half a million listeners compared to figures from three months earlier.

Scott Mills took over as host of the breakfast show in January 2025.

Between January and March 2025, 13.11million listeners tuned into the station overall.

Yet during the most recent time period reviewed, this dropped to 12.62million.

Specifically for the Breakfast Show, figures marked 6.45million average weekly listeners from January to March.

But between April and June, this has dropped to 6.22million.
