ACTRESS Shani Wallis has slammed plans to remake the film classic Oliver!.
It comes after The Sun revealed theatre legend Sir Cameron Mackintosh was working on a new adaptation of the Charles Dickens' 1838 tale.

The star, who played Nancy in the original 1968 production, said the film should be left alone.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Shani, 92, said: "Of course it should be left alone because it is the ultimate depiction of Dickens' novel.
"It soars in unlimited emotion.
"It is perfect in every aspect.
"How can they do better?
"I could go on and on…But what's the point?
"They'll f**k it up anyway."
Despite her misgivings, Shani's Olivier co-star Mark Lester has rallied behind the project.
Mark, 57, who played Oliver in the original film, said: "I hope they don't do a woke version like Sky TV's Twist in which Bill Sykes was played by a woman, because no-one will watch it.
"All this women playing men… whatever. Why do they even bother with woke versions?"
Insisting fans of the original should have an open mind, he added: "When Steven Spielberg announced a few years ago that he'd be remaking West Side Story, which is my favourite musical, I thought, 'Nah, how can they do it better?'
"But I actually really enjoyed it.
"So why not Oliver? Give it a go.
"If they can do it as well as Spielberg did West Side Story…which I'd say is slightly better than the original."
The Sun told earlier this week that Sir Cameron, 78, was working up a new project after his production of the show appeared in London's West End earlier this year.
A source said: "Sir Cameron is really keen for a new version of Oliver! to finally happen.
"It's early days but talks are very much ongoing. At the centre of them is the feeling that if it's done, it must be done right."
The original film was nominated for 11 Academy Awards and won six — including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Score.
The film also won two Golden Globes, including one for Best Motion Picture — Musical or Comedy – and Best Actor, for Ron Moody, who played Fagin.
